Our friends (EWA) closer to the mountains have shared a list of their events for the year. We’ve wheeled with them before and had a really good time, if you’re available and looking for some fun check out some of these events…
We got some housekeeping items done on the website, and we hope to put a new face on it really soon (this one is 2 yrs young). Being the time of year we renew our memberships, we also thought it was time to get the Life Flight Network Application, set-up like our very own membership application. Folks can now enroll with Life Flight Network using our online application, and pay online at our store. Just trying to make things a little easier for folks that prefer getting it done online, as opposed to the old paper and pen.
The RattleSnake 4x4s Christmas party will be next Tuesday Dec 19th at CG Public House.
Gathering at 6 pm, start by 7 pm and finished by 9 pm.
There will be a White Elephant gift exchange, 1 present per person (couples = 2 presents – $25/max per gift). Come join the fun and don’t forget your gifts, members and guests are welcome to participate..
Many new and old jeep owners have purchased a Jeep or other vehicle and quickly start personalizing it to their liking, adding things to it that make their vehicle unique. For many one of those modifications in larger tires. Almost immediately their beloved new rig loses power. How do we get the power back, in this case we start considering re-gearing the Ring & Pinions in both axles.
How do you know what gear set will work for your needs. One of our sponsors (NorthRidge 4×4) was nice enough to share some colorful charts for newer Jeep Wrangler JK/JKUs with us, and we shared them in our forums. Check out Jeep R & P Gear Selection post in our forums for more info.
I’ve heard the stories of forums dying for many reasons, but I believe the biggest factor is the learning curve. Let’s face it wandering the interwebz can be overwhelming but most website are pretty simple to maneuver in and out like this one simple. Yet venture into a forum and it’s a whole different story, easily overwhelmed most just avoid them. Thinking about this and knowing how useful forums have been in my 6 year journey building my Jeep, I took some time to try and demystify our RattleSnake 4×4 forums…
Our forums, may not have everything everybody needs (yet), but can and at some point I hope will. The forums are a fantastic tool that can catalog info for later recall that social media pages just can’t short of an album one of the leading social media sites posts get lost because of stacking. Sure you can search but because of their depth, they fail at becoming a resource for semi-immediate recall. Forums on the other hand offer cataloging. Our forums currently have over 750 posts in a number of topics about our club and sport, but I’ll acknowledge that a person can easily get uncomfortable trying to find their way.
So I created some (hopefully) easy to follow “How Tos” to get folks better acquainted with our forums, check them out and become part of the conversation(s) within. Your posts, and questions can help others learn about our sport, rig specific mods, etc. Not to mention the volume of info in one place, I hope to make our forums a fun place to share wisdom, and other info with others.
Please check out the new “HOW TO” material and let us know how we’re doing!
Tonights meeting was well attended (Thanks to all that came), and we hammered out some exciting business that brings big changes to the status quo.
First, the club voted in a lowering of the minimum age for membership from 21 to 18, for specifics refer to the newly updated bylaws Article IV Section 2 (a) 1 & 2. Next, the club voted to allow SxS (Side x Sides) owners to become members, for specifics refer to the newly updated bylaws Article IV Section 1.
This makes RS 4x4s the first 4×4 club in the Pacific NorthWest to allow SxS’s, and also become part of the PNW4WDA. Finally the club voted in the current leadership to continue in 2018, with the only exception being recombining the Sec/Tres position.
Your 2018 Leadership is President – Lance Greenwood, VP – Doug Campbell, Sec/Tres – Mandi Greenwood, with Exec. Board Members Mike Holstein & Brandon Christensen. Congrats to all and thank you for helping forward the club into our third year! WE also rearranged our forums, to put the more recent things up top in the different areas. Check it out!
We have a busy agenda at tonight’s membership meeting. We’ll be discussing some bylaw changes that the under 21 crowd and SxS (side x side) folks may find of interest and voting for next years officers.
So what do ya do when the weather’s not great, you have cast on your leg, and can’t do much work or play, and all your friends are at work?
You go web wheelin’…
I’ve done a fair bit of off roading, and Julia our 2007 Jeep Wrangler Saharicon, has both the mileage, dents and dings to prove it. She’s carried us all over the Pacific Northwest, ran the famed Rubicon Trail, and has seen Moab Easter Jeep Safari twice. One of the many things yet to see in person for both our Julia and me is a race held in Johnson Valley, CA called the King of the Hammers.
Today while web wheelin’ I came across this awesome video of a team (Desert Turtle Racing) that were like many of the folks in our club, everyday wheelers (off-roaders if you will), but these guys had dreamed of not only seing the race but jumped in with both feet and decided to enter and race. Check out their “movie” below, but grab a snack first it’s an actual 80 minute movie…
Is a multi-dimensional club, that is open to all makes and models of 4x4s. While we seem to have a lot of Jeeps, that seem to be off road minded we also have some on road members as well. We would like to encourage you to check us out online we have this website, FaceBook, Forums and Instagram. We meet most every month on the third Tuesday between 6:00-9:00 pm at CG Public House in Kennewick, unless otherwise noted on the forum or our FaceBook Events pages.
We are always looking to diversify and seek both on and off-road rigs, and possibly in the very near future side by sides, keep checking back, and check out our many online offerings. If you are considering joining a club we hope you’ll consider joining us!
